Raisin in the Sun - Essays

Raisin in the Sun - EssaysRaisins in the Sun is a unique and amusing nonfiction book by historian and children's author Jim Rohn. This beautiful book contains essays on the many different summer vacation topics children love to talk about. And the essays are just as entertaining and educational as the stories that will make for great storytime in the house. All children can identify with these fascinating creatures. Why do they climb into the sun whenever it comes? Why do they look so excited? And why do they go for long periods of time without getting wet? There are many things to learn from these fascinating raisins. But one of the most important lessons these little guys teach us is the importance of being able to trust our parents. As I've said before, the ability to trust our parents is the first step in growing up. And this is what this wonderful little book teaches us through the lives of Raisins in the Sun.If there is one thing that every kid learns very early, it is the value of their mommy. And in this wonderful book, the raisins in the sun are taken to the Bahamas where they are allowed to climb the palm trees by their mothers. But soon, their mothers are kidnapped by aliens and Raisins are on their way to find out who killed their mommy. The book continues on until the end of the book, which is actually the next chapter. As you can see, this book is a fun read for everyone.Just like the colorful raisins in the sun, the kids who read this book to learn a lot through the lives of these particular raisins. One of the essays features the relative sizes of a baby raisin and an adult raisin. And another one discusses how the children in this story learned to be responsible for themselves. The same children also learn what happened to their mommy, along with the lesson that she was killed in a freak accident.A lot of readers will probably laugh at some of the quotes from the book, but I think they make for good reading for both children and adults. The fact that you can tell the raisins in the sun are really getting old without reading a single word of their autobiography is pretty interesting. As the girls grow older, they learn a lot about friendship and life itself. The essays in this book provide just the right amount of life lessons for every age group.Although the essays in this book contain some lessons they are also not limited to essay topics only. There are stories as well. They are all quite fun to read, especially the ones where the raisins are laughing it up with their mothers. They do their best to stay out of trouble and also make good, if sometimes uncoordinated, citizens. As the book ends, the children are told that they can keep whatever they win from the Raisin's. The girls in particular have a lot of fun trying to figure out who won and who lost. However, after they are all set, the Raisins in the Sun finally find the aliens who were responsible for their mother's death. The aliens promise to return to take care of t hem the next time they come to visit.
